Autumn 3Way
It’s sweater weather. And that means cozying up with biscuits and breakfast tea! Right, we’re Anglophiles, and here’s a UK three-way to warm up those cool weekends.
Frankmusik "3 Little Words"
Vincent Frank aka Frankmusic — a DJ/mixmaster from Croydon, UK — has remixed cutting edge alt-dance acts like Bloc Party and Cansei de Ser Sexy. Yet “the female Robyn” (according to The Guardian) loves his pop straight-up. This snazzy New Wave number (and video) is like Flashdance re-imagined by the Pet Shop Boys. Its effervescent rhythm is wedded to Frank and back-up birds bopping around on a giant keyboard á la Tom Hanks in Big. Frankmusik’s 3 Little Words EP is out in the UK November 24.
The Saturdays “Up”
This frothy confection of sugary sweetness comes courtesy of the latest Irish pop tarts. “Up” is Beyoncé overdosing on Eurotrash disco, with the girls — Frankie, Rochelle, Una, Mollie and Vanessa — putting themselves on pedestals. And check out those color-coordinated mics and stockings. Drag queens, you got served! The Saturdays’ debut, Changing Lights, comes out in the UK October 27.
Alesha Dixon “The Boy Does Nothing”
This survivor from U.K. also-rans Mis-Teeq is ready to go all Duffy stateside. The clip’s not much — it’s “Mercy” with more dancers — but the track’s a bona-fide smash. Its Reggaeton-via-Bollywood vibe, Northern Soul horns and Stray Cat strut have it building major buzz, but the U.S. release is still TBD. The import of The Alesha Show comes out November 24.
