Strike a Pose

For desktop procrastinators like you and me, Strike.TV is a friggin’ goldmine. Yes, it’s another online platform where entertainers can flaunt their wares and maybe gain some mass recognition. But unlike YouTube, it’s less like an open-mike night where anyone including your funny uncle can post a clip. It’s actually a professional venue where established television writers present their ideas to entertainment-industry brass without losing ownership of their work. So this fountain of distraction isn’t just top-drawer entertainment – you’re putting off work for a good cause!

The line-up features up to 40 shows whose creators hail from the likes of The Daily Show, The Office and Robot Chicken. They average 6 to 8 minutes in length and have a charmingly no-budget, half-finished appeal (dig that Flash animation in Global Warming, featuring SNL’s Kristen Wiig). The menu is eclectic, with everything from teen horror (5 or Die), soap operas (Life in General), even musicals (West Guild Story). Faux Baby, about a baby-phobic woman living with a “reborn” baby doll, sprints out of the gate with some of the most memorable patient-therapist dialogue we’ve heard this year. But watch out: Strike.tv can get a little too absorbing and make you forget you’re at work and less attentive to when the boss is making the rounds.
