Oh, iPhone, is there anything you can't do? Whether we're feeling lost, hungry, bored or horny, you're there for us, silently purring to our tap a tap tap. But what when our artistic appetites have a porny bent? Well, now there's an app for that, too: Adonis Magazine.
Published bi-weekly, each $1.99 "issue" features exclusive photographs of the ripped male form in an easily navigable and crisply rendered flipbook. Think Arena Homme +, not Honcho: as per Apple policy, in the debut issues by Christian Del Rosario, Fred Goudon, he of Dieux du Stade fame, and Scott Hoover, there's nary a penis amid the bountiful butts and steely black and white stares.
Brainchild of L.A.-based photographers and OhLaLa Mag bloggers Alek and Steph as a way to give photographers more exposure, the app feels like a logical extension of the decline of print. If you can get your Times on your phone, why not your nudie mags? Granted, there are limitations to the electronic form. No filing away on a bookshelf or leaving out for guests to browse and, strangely, the ability to zoom in on favorites isn't included. But for classy coffee-table erotica in the palm of your hand (ahem), it's a novel toy for the new year.
Adonis Magazine is available bi-weekly in the Apple iTunes store.
